The normal and average weight for a 6’4 male

The normal and average weight for a 6’4 male

Everyone knows that the height of 6 foot 4 is very tall, but how much should a 6’4 male weigh in order to be healthy?

Well, a 6’4 man can certainly weigh more than the average guy while still being healthy due to his impressive stature.

Yet, because some tall people are pretty slim, 6’4 men—on average—might not weigh quite as much as you’d expect.

What is the average weight for a 6’4 male? Based on our extensive research, the average weight for a 6’4 male is around 230 pounds or 104.3 kilograms.

This is around 30 lbs higher than the weight for the average man, which is not surprising considering that a 6’4 man is 7 inches taller than the average guy.

That said, there’s no body weight data for 6’4 people specifically. After all, can you imagine how challenging it would be to recruit a few hundred 6’4 men?

With this limitation in mind, the above values are estimates based on our scaling up of the average weight, which is right around 200 lbs.

Knowing that men are 5’9 on average—and allowing for the fact that some taller guys aren’t quite as filled out as their shorter counterparts—we feel that 235 lbs is a solid estimate for the average weight for a 6’4 man.

Since there are not that many 6’4 women walking around, it’s tricky to give a precise estimate. But, taking everything into account, the average weight for a 6’4 female is likely around 190 lbs to 210 lbs.

While some 6’4 women are very slim and not particularly filled out, some may have more muscle and fat, causing them to weigh well in excess of 200 lbs.

Again, when a given height is so much higher than average, calculating the average weight becomes a lot more complicated.

What is considered a healthy BMI for a 6’4 man?

A healthy BMI for a 6'4 male

A healthy BMI for a 6’4 man is between 18.5 and 24.9, which is the range for a normal body mass index. This works out to a BMI of 153 lbs to 205 lbs.

To be sure, a lean and muscular 6’4 man can weigh more than 205 lbs and still be healthy. But let’s be honest, in the general population, most 6’4 people probably have too much body fat.

So if the average 6’4 person was to lose weight and get leaner, they’d likely weigh less than you’d think.

This is one of the limitations of BMI, and it works for body weights on the other end of the spectrum as well.

Even though 153 lbs is considered a normal body weight for a 6’4 man, it would result in a very skinny physique and, among other things, could be a sign that a person isn’t consuming a healthy diet.

In conclusion: How can you maintain a healthy weight for a 6’4 male

An overweight man who definitely does not have the ideal weight for a 6'4 male

Now that you know the approximate average weight for a 6’4 male, let’s quickly see how a 6’4 man can maintain his ideal weight.

While taller people often need more calories to maintain their weight, it’s important that they don’t overeat if they want to maintain a lean body.

Of course, active individuals will need more calories (and protein) than those who lead more sedentary lifestyles, but this goes for people of any height.

Some physical activities may be more challenging for 6’4 people, but don’t let that put you off exercise. Everyone needs frequent (ideally daily) exercise to stay fit and healthy and burn off some of the calories that they consume.

Additionally, don’t overlook the importance of sleep. When you sleep well, you’ll have better dietary adherence and more energy to go about your daily business, whether that be a workout or your actual day job.
