Is a 15 cm height difference between couples big?

A 15 cm height difference is a pretty big and yet perfectly normal height difference for a couple to have.

Additionally, a 15 cm, 16 cm, and even a 17 cm height difference can exist between many other kinds of people, including friends, parents and their children, and siblings.

A 15 cm height difference between couples is definitely big in the sense that it’s a very noticeable height difference. Indeed, from any angle, you’d immediately be able to see who the taller and shorter partner is.

However, although 15 centimeters is a fairly large height difference, it’s by no means excessive and is, in fact, a pretty common height difference for a couple to have.

After all, men are typically a fair bit taller than women, and most women prefer guys who are taller than them. As such, it’s simply likely that a 15 cm difference in height will exist between a lot of male-female couples.

If a 15 centimeter height difference exists between two female friends, for example, then that height gap would actually look more striking for a couple of reasons.

One, it’s more likely for people of the same gender to be a similar height. And two, if two females have a 15 cm height difference, this means that one of them must either be very tall or very short.

How big is a 16 cm height difference?

A 16 cm height difference is very big. But it’s not necessarily too much.

After all, many guys are 16 cm taller than their partner, which could be seen as complementary, if anything.

On the other hand, a guy might not like being 16 cm shorter than his male friend because that height difference would make him look short, even if he’s of a normal stature.

So, while a 16 cm height difference isn’t excessive, it’s not a height gap that can easily be reduced. Indeed, even if the shorter person wore high heels, they still wouldn’t be as tall as their partner, which, for some couples, will undoubtedly be a good thing.

How about a 17 cm height difference?

While many couples do have a 17 cm height difference, I’d say that it’s slightly less common than a 15 cm or 16 cm difference in height.

Still, many men like being taller than their partners, and many women prefer to be quite a bit shorter than their boyfriend or husband.

As such, a 17 cm difference in height can work very well because it’s noticeable without being excessive.

Since it’s nearing double digits, 17 centimeters obviously sounds like quite a lot. And in truth, it is a lot when it comes to human height.

But as I said, lots of people have a 17 cm height difference between them and someone else and have absolutely no issue with it.

Who is most likely to have a 15 cm height difference?

In general, male-female couples are the people who are most likely to have a 15 cm height difference. This is simply because women are often around 15 cm shorter than men.

Logically, this means that siblings of opposite genders could also have a 15 cm height difference, although this may be a bit less likely than unrelated males and females.

Additionally, if a guy is pretty tall, for example, then he could definitely tower 15 centimeters or more above some of his male friends or co-workers, much to their chagrin.

In summary

As you can see, height varies a lot, which naturally means that height differences between people are very common, especially with something like 15 centimeters.

We’ve mainly spoken about a 15 cm height difference as it exists between two people. However, a 15 cm difference in height can also exist between two objects or two animals.

It’s just that we’re much more sensitive to differences in human height because this biological variation means more to us than that observed in the man-made world.
