The average weight for a 6 foot male revealed

In addition to telling you the average weight for a 6’0 male and a 6’0 female, this guide will also explain how much a 6’0 man should weigh in order to be healthy.

This is important because the ideal weight for a 6 foot male and the average weight for a 6ft male are two very different things.

What is the average weight for a 6 foot male? According to body weight measurement research, the average weight for a 6 foot male is around 210 pounds or 95 kilograms.

The average guy is around 5’9 and 200 lbs, so this estimate presumes that most 6ft men, due to their height, weigh a bit more than average. To give a range, I’d say that 210 lbs to 220 lbs is roughly the norm for a 6’0 male.

Of course, the amount of muscle that you have on your frame (and indeed your frame size) can affect how much you weigh.

For example, you can be a really muscular 6 foot with a bit of fat, in which case you might weigh over 200 pounds.

On the other hand, you might be 6 feet tall with a slimmer build. In this scenario, you’d probably weigh well under 200 pounds.

What is the average weight for a 6 foot female?

A woman who has a very average weight for a 6 foot female

The average weight for a 6 foot female is likely around 185 pounds or 84 kilograms. This estimate is based on the body weight data for US women.

It will come as no surprise to learn that there’s no data that weighs 6 foot women specifically.

The body weight data is based on women as a whole, who are 5’4 on average and weigh roughly 171 lbs.

So, considering that a 6’0 woman is 8 inches taller than average, I think it’s reasonable to say that the average 6’0 female would weigh around 185 lbs, perhaps more.

The reason that I’m reluctant to go with a higher average is that I’m well aware that quite a lot of taller women tend to be quite slim, which would bring the average down a bit, likely to around 185 lbs.

What is considered a healthy weight for a 6 foot male?

A man is happy because he has a healthy weight for a 6 foot male

As I’ve said before, health isn’t measured by body weight because your weight doesn’t take into account your body composition.

Sure, if your body weight is really low or extremely high, then you’re probably unhealthy. But outside of extremes, a particular body weight doesn’t guarantee good health or poor health.

It’s the same story with BMI. You can be unhealthy with a “healthy” BMI and healthy with an overweight BMI.

That said, as far as estimating a healthy weight for a 6 foot man goes, BMI is the best tool that we have.

So with that in mind, a healthy weight for a 6 foot male is between 137 lbs and 184 lbs.

A healthy BMI for a 6 foot male

A good BMI for a 6’0 male (and a 6’0 female) is between 18.5 and 24.9, which, as mentioned, works out to a body weight between 137 lbs and 184 lbs.

Some people will rightly point out that a body weight of 137 lbs is very skinny for a 6 foot person, especially for a 6’0 male.

This is one of the limitations of BMI—the lower and upper ranges are often not ideal.

For example, if you’re 137 lbs, then you’re borderline underweight, even though some BMI calculators may say that you’re healthy.

There’s so much more to physical health than the numbers on the scale, so don’t get too caught up on achieving one particular body weight or a specific BMI.

Still, for the maintenance of good health, it is generally recommended to maintain a BMI within the above-mentioned normal range.

Conclusion: How can a 6ft man maintain his ideal weight?

A man checking if he has the ideal weight for a 6 foot male

It’s not always easy to attain the ideal weight for a 6 foot male because we’re all built differently, have varying metabolisms and athletic abilities, and often lead drastically different lifestyles.

So, in order to maintain a healthy weight, focus on the areas of your health that you can control.

If you know that getting to the gym regularly isn’t possible, do some exercise on your lunch break and/or at home instead. Any physical activity is better than zero exercise.

Other than that, don’t obsess over specific numbers on the scale. While it’s generally not good to be overweight, having a favorable body composition is just as important as having a healthy weight.
